The aim of the project is to translate Artur Markowski’s book “Przemoc antyżydowska i wyobrażenia społeczne. Pogrom białostocki 1906 roku” into English and publish in the BRILL publishing house, devoted to the issue of building social perceptions about anti-Jewish violence in the Russian Empire. The pogrom of Jews in Białystok in 1906 was of key importance to this issue. The book is an important and new voice in studies on anti-Jewish violence, introduces new interpretations and contextualizes the results of research on this issue so far, emphasizing the mechanisms of paradigm-building in studies on Jewish pogroms.
