Treasury records as a source for the history of the Old Polish military during the reign of the Vasa dynasty (1587-1668)

The main scientific objective of the project is the edition of treasury-military records from the period of the Vasa dynasty reign in the Polish Commonwealth (1587-1668), concerning both the Crown and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. They are an essential source material for understanding the size and organization of the Crown and Lithuanian armies, and their number and state of preservation reflect, in a way, the growing importance of the army in the public life of the Commonwealth. These records are widely used by historians studying various aspects of the Commonwealth, but they have not yet been the subject of a comprehensive scholarly study. The edition of these files will fulfil a very important research postulate, giving historians an important source for not only the history of early modern polish military, but also of the state and society in its various aspects.
