dr Mateusz Żmudziński

He is a graduate of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, majoring in Archivistics and Documentation Management. He defended his doctoral thesis, dedicated to the Archive of Ancient Records of the Diocese of Toruń, in 2018 at the Faculty of Historical Sciences of the UMK in Toruń.

Professionally, he became involved with the Archive of Ancient Records of the Diocese of Toruń, first as a volunteer, and since 2014 as an archivist. After defending his doctoral thesis, he became deputy director of the Archive, taking over as director of the archive in March 2023. During his undergraduate and postgraduate studies and his doctoral studies, he was chairman of the Student Government and scholarship committees at WNH UMK. He organised numerous research tours of Ukrainian archives for students.

His research interests include ecclesiastical archival science in the broadest sense of the term: the history of archives, archival studies, actuarial science, or the practical functioning of church archives. He is also interested in the methodology of processing archival materials. He is also not unfamiliar with contemporary archival issues, such as EZD systems or the digitisation of archival materials.
