Interdisciplinary Conference: Archaeology and Classical Philology
The Young Classicists’ Scientific Circle and the Interfaculty Scientific Society for Research and Protection of World Cultural Heritage HUMANICA at the University of Warsaw invite you to a conference dedicated to the collaboration between archaeologists and classical philologists. The event will take place on January 25-26, 2025, in a hybrid format.
Conference Objective: Presentation of the latest discoveries and analysis of well-known topics from the perspective of interdisciplinary research. We invite not only archaeologists and classical philologists but also representatives of other fields, such as historians, cultural studies scholars, psychologists, and computer scientists.
Conference Topics:
- Collaboration between archaeology and classical philology in the past and present
- Prospects for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Archaeological discoveries and their correlation with ancient sources
- Use of achievements from other fields in archaeological research and analysis of classical texts
- Traditions of classical philology in archaeology
- The role of inscriptions in archaeological and philological research
- Modern methods of presenting research data
Submissions: Abstract submissions are accepted until December 15, 2024, at: konferencja.f.a@gmail.com. The submission should include:
- Name and affiliation of the presenter (academic title/year of study, name of the faculty and educational unit)
- Title of the presentation
- Language of the presentation (Polish/English)
- Abstract up to 300 words in the language of the presentation
Conference Venue and Format: The conference will be held in the Column Hall of the Faculty of History at the University of Warsaw, Krakowskie Przedmieście 26/28, and online via Google Meet.
