Professor Włodzimierz Borodziej passed away

It is with regret that we bid farewell to the late Professor Włodzimierz Borodziej, who passed away on 11 July 2021, at the age of 64, after a long illness.

Professor Włodzimierz Borodziej was an eminent historian, specialising in the recent history of Poland, Germany and East-Central Europe.

From the 1970s, he was associated with the then Historical Institute, and in the years 1999-2002 he was Vice-Chancellor of Warsaw University. He held many important positions in Polish and international scientific institutions.

The funeral

The funeral of Prof. Włodzimierz Borodziej took place on 18 August 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home at the Powązki military cemetery in Warsaw.

The ceremony had a secular character.

The official ceremony was followed by the escort to the grave at the cemetery in Pyry.
