NCN open calls: OPUS and PRELUDIUM


The National Science Centre (NCN) has announced a call for proposals for the next round of the OPUS and PRELUDIUM competitions.


 OPUS Competition

  • This is aimed for researchers at all stages of their careers,
  • It enables the implementation of research projects, including those involving international teams, and the purchase or manufacture of scientific and research equipment,
  • The duration of the project may be 12, 24, 36 or 48 months.

PRELUDIUM Competition

  • It is intended for young researchers who do not hold a doctoral degree,
  • The maximum planned budget is PLN 70,000 (for a 12-month project), PLN 140,000 (24 months) or PLN 210,000 (26 months),
  • The research team in a PRELUDIUM project may consist of up to three people, including the project leader and the academic supervisor.
Important changes:  
 It is now mandatory to list retracted publications in applications submitted for funding and in reports on the implementation of grants funded by the National Science Centre. Applicants are required to provide a list of retracted publications for all individuals who submit an academic record questionnaire as part of the application (including senior researchers);
 The criterion for assessing the qualifications and achievements of the project leader will not be evaluated by external experts.  
 For OPUS: A post-doctoral research fellowship may also be undertaken whilst studying and has been reduced from 10 months to 9 months;  
 For OPUS: A new limit on salaries and scholarships for students and PhD students applies – a maximum of PLN 8,500 received by a given student or PhD student from projects funded by the NCN;  
 For OPUS: The rate of the PhD scholarship has been increased to PLN 6,500.

The call for applications via the OSF system remains open until 16 June 2026 at 2.00 pm.The internal, strict deadline for submitting applications to the Faculty of History is 25 May 2026.

Those of you planning to submit applications are kindly requested to send a message confirming your intention by 11 May to the following email address: badania.historia@uw.edu.pl

Application procedure:

  1. Notify the WH Projects Unit of your intention to submit an application by emailing: badania.historia@uw.edu.pl (by 11 May)
  2. Create and complete the application in the OSF system (by 25 May).
  3. The application will be checked by a member of the Research Section.
  4. Collect the necessary signatures at WH.
  5. Submit the completed application to the University of Warsaw Research Support Office (by 10 June).
  6. Make any necessary corrections following review of the application by the Research Support Office.
  7. Submit the application to the National Science Centre (NCN) after receiving the Rector’s signature from the Research Support Office (by 16 June, 14:00).
