Modern Jewish History in a Mediterranean Key

We would like to invite you to an open lecture to be held as part of the scientific workshop ‘ Jewish Dis/Connections across and beyond the Modern Mediterranean’, which will take place at the University of Warsaw on 6-8 April 2025.
A lecture entitled ‘Modern Jewish History in a Mediterranean Key’ will be given by Professor Matthias B. Lehmann.
The keynote speaker will be Matthias B. Lehmann, Professor of Modern Jewish History at the Martin Buber Institute for Jewish Studies. Prior to joining the University of Cologne, he served as Teller Chair in Jewish History at the University of California (2012-2023) and at Indiana Unifersity Bloomington (2002-2012). His research focuses on contemporary Jewish history in a transnational perspective, the history and culture of the Sephardic Diaspora, and the history of Jewish philanthropy. Lehmann is an elected member of the American Academy of Jewish Research and co-editor of the Studia Judaica series published by De Gruyter.
