M.A. Natalia Lenda

Biography

I hold a Bachelor’s degree (2017–2020) and a Master’s degree (2021–2023) from the Faculty of History at the University of Warsaw. I wrote my Master’s thesis, titled “Burn the villages to the bare ground… A comparative study of the pacifications of Bandysie and Krasowo-Częstki,” under the supervision of Dr. hab. Piotr M. Majewski, Prof. UW. My research focuses on the history of the Second World War in a regional context, with particular emphasis on German crimes against the civilian population. I am especially interested in the wartime experiences of rural inhabitants. I am currently working on my doctoral dissertation on German occupation policy in Bezirk Bialystok (1941–1944).
