The 12th Splendid Encounters – 22–23 September

We warmly invite you to the international conference The 12th Splendid Encounters: Diplomats and Diplomacy in the Early Modern World, which will take place on 22–23 September 2025 at our Faculty.

Splendid Encounters is a series of international and interdisciplinary conferences aimed at bringing together scholars from various academic fields to explore diplomatic activity and diplomacy in the early modern period in the broadest possible context.

After eleven successful meetings held in cities such as Vienna, Florence, Bath, Budapest, Prague, and Lisbon, we are pleased to invite you to the next edition of the event, this time co-organized by the Faculty of History at the University of Warsaw and the Tadeusz Manteuffel Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

This year’s edition will focus on the role and functioning of diplomacy during times of crisis in the early modern world – from wars and dynastic conflicts to religious and social upheavals.
