Visit of Prof. Jörg Rüpke at the Faculty of History

Between 13 and 21 November 2025, the Faculty of History hosted Prof. Jörg Rüpke from the University of Erfurt as a visiting lecturer in the History of Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations program. Prof. Rüpke conducted a series of seminars and an open lecture as part of the course “How made religion urban life work in ancient cities?” The classes addressed topics related to religious life in ancient urban culture, urban religion as a space of interaction, and the city–countryside dichotomy.
Prof. Rüpke is the author and co-author of numerous scholarly and textbook publications on religion in the Greco-Roman world.
