Information from the Faculty Election Committee
of the Faculty of History of the University of Warsaw
1. On 19.02.2024 (Monday), elections for members of the Faculty Electoral College and by-elections for members of the Faculty Council will be held (in those curias which are included in the election procedure and not all seats of which were filled during the election on 31.01.2024 and in additional rounds of voting). The election will take place online (resolution of the Faculty Election Committee of 15.01.2024), using the familiar “pollster” system. The voting links will be open on election day between 10.00 and 15.00.
At the same time, Faculty Election Committee informs that earlier – on 14.02.2024 (Wednesday), from 10.00 a.m. in the same online mode (pollster), additional rounds of voting will be held, on the candidates who did not receive an absolute majority of votes in the Faculty Council elections on 31.01.2024 (1 candidate in the curia of other academic staff and 1 candidate in the curia of non-academic staff).
2. The Faculty Election Committee announces that, in accordance with the UW Statutes (§59, 3) and following the relevant recounts by the Faculty Election Committee, the following number of seats to be filled in the election of members of the Faculty Electoral College by the individual curias which elect their representatives to our Faculty:
- curia of other academic teachers = 17 seats
- curia of non-academic staff = 4 seats.
In the elections organised by their own Electoral Commissions, students will elect 10 of their representatives and doctoral students 4. However, all professors, university professors and post-doctoral fellows will automatically become members of the Faculty Electoral College.
3. The Faculty Election Committee announces that, in accordance with §4, 1 of the Faculty of History Bylaws and with the current composition of the membership, in the election of elected members of the Faculty Council of the FH UW, individual curia were entitled to the following number of seats to be filled:
- curia of other academic staff = 10 seats
- curia of non-academic staff = 5 seats.
In the election on 31.01.2024, only 4 seats (curia of other academic staff) and 3 seats (curia of non-academic staff) were filled respectively. For the single seats in both curiae, additional rounds of voting will be held on 14.02.2024, on candidates who did not receive an absolute majority of votes.
Depending, therefore, on the successful filling of these seats or their failure to be filled in the additional votes on 14.02.2024, a by-election on 19.02.2024 will remain to be held for each of these curia respectively:
curia of other academic staff = 5 or 6 seats
curia of non-academic staff = 1-2 seats.
4. The active right to vote is granted to persons employed on a full-time basis at the UW (Faculty of History), including those on sabbatical leave and those employed on a part-time basis. Persons entitled to vote in two curiae shall themselves choose in which curia they wish to vote and submit their decision in writing by 15.02.2024 in room 15 (to Ms A. Turek-Adamowicz).
5. All candidates for members of the Faculty Electoral College and members of the Faculty Council are required to submit, on or before 15.02.2024 (Thursday) at room 15 (in the hands of Ms A. Turek-Adamowicz), two forms from Resolution No. 5 of the Faculty Election Committee of 6 November 2023, completed and signed by hand with a legible signature: “Candidate Consent” and “Candidate Declaration“. After this date, the Faculty Election Committee will close the lists of candidates. The relevant forms can be found in room 15 and are attached to this announcement.
The JEC calls on all those with active and passive electoral rights to actively participate in the elections so that we are not threatened with additional by-elections. This particularly applies to increasing the number of candidates.
