Graduation procedures and the policy on the use of AI when writing your MA thesis

The graduation procedure is regulated by the Resolution No.4 of the Teaching and Learning Council for the fields of studies of History, Jewish Studies, History of Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations of 10 April 2024 on rules and regulations of graduation in the fields of History, Jewish Studies, History of Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations.

of 8 December 2023 on the guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence tools in the education process.

The most important resolutions:
  • The use of the AI systems in the process of preparing a diploma dissertation requires agreement between the supervisor of the diploma dissertation and the student preparing the diploma dissertation.
  • If artificial intelligence systems have been used in the course of the thesis preparation, such systems together with the purposes and methods of their use must be described and clearly marked, especially in the introduction or in the research methods section.
  • The supervisor or the reviewer of the diploma dissertation may use publicly available tools to determine the likelihood of undisclosed use of the AI systems in the preparation of this dissertation.
  • If it is found that the diploma dissertation does not comply with the criteria set out in sections 4 to 5, standards and procedures are in place to deal with the students who unethically obtain course credits, pass examinations and prepare credit papers and diploma dissertations in violation of the law, including copyright laws, referred to in § 4, section 3, point 13 of the Rules and Regulations of Studies, in particular the provisions of Resolution No. 14 of the University Council for Teaching and Learning of 13 July 2020 on standards and procedures for dealing with the preparation of credit works and diploma dissertations in breach of the law at the University of Warsaw (URK Journal of 2020, item 14).
