Individual Study Stays for Young Researchers in Warsaw

The Faculty of History, University of Warsaw, in cooperation with the Warsaw Centre for Global History and the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, invites early career researchers and PhD students from foreign institutions to apply for individual study stays in Warsaw.

The programme is addressed to scholars working in the fields of global history or anthropology, who wish to spend 2 to 4 weeks in Poland, developing their individual research projects in a non-European context.

🕒 Rolling recruitment is open until 30 September 2025
📅 Study stays can be carried out until 15 December 2025

🔍 What do we offer?

  • Financial support up to:

    • 10,000 PLN (2-week stay)

    • 16,000 PLN (4-week stay)

  • Coverage of travel and accommodation expenses (in accordance with UW procedures)

  • Access to a dynamic academic environment at the University of Warsaw

  • One required lecture at the Marian Małowist Global History Seminar or a seminar hosted by the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology

📄 Required documents:

  • Completed application form (attached to the programme regulations)

  • CV

  • Letter of recommendation (sent directly to: globalhistory@uw.edu.pl)

  • Research project description (up to 2000 words)

  • Motivation letter

  • Research plan for the stay

  • Name of a staff member from the Faculty of History or the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology who will act as academic host
