Sylwia Matysiak – PhD student at the Faculty of History in the University of Warsaw. She obtained her MA in 2020 from the University of Warsaw, where she wrote her master’s thesis entitled “Features and Competence of Midwives in Soranos’ Treatise Gynaecology and Greek Inscriptions.” Her doctoral research focuses on the public honorification of women from the time of Augustus to the end of the 3rd century CE. The primary sources for her work are Latin inscriptions from Italy and the western provinces of the Roman Empire, including Spain, Gaul, and North Africa. Her academic interests include the history of women, religious practices and mythologies, as well as social issues in antiquity.
