Biography
Born in 1939; master’s degree in history at the University of Warsaw in 1961, secondary education in archaeology in 1965, doctorate and habilitation in history there in 1971 and 1979, associate professor in 1992, full professor in 1995. Employed at the Historical Institute of the University of Warsaw since 1961 as a trainee assistant, assistant, senior assistant, doctoral student, assistant professor, associate professor, full professor since 1995. Scientific secretary of the Historical Institute of the University of Warsaw (1972-1975), member of: the Commission of Historical Geography of the Polish Academy of Sciences (since 1973), the Editorial Board of the year-book “Ziemia” (1979-1987), the Main Committee of the All-Polish Historical Olympiad (since 1984), the Commission of Human Ecology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (1988-1995), the Numismatic Commission of the Polish Academy of Sciences (since 1989), the Historical Team of the Mountain Tourist Culture Centre PTTK in the Pieniny Mountains (since 1991), the Scientific Council of the Yearbook of the Polish Tatars (since 1993), the Oriental Commission of the Polish Academy of Sciences (since 1999).
