M.A. Maciej Karol Stachowicz

Biography

Born 28.10.1997, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the Department of History at the UW (he received his diplomas in 2021 and 2023, respectively). He wrote both theses (“The image of St. Ladislaus in the Chronicle of Gall Anonim” and “Comparative analysis of the image of King Peter Orseolo [1038 – 1041, 1044 – 1046] in the Hungarian Chronicon pictum and other narrative sources”) under the guidance of Prof. Pawel Zmudzki. He pursued his master’s studies partly at ELTE University in Budapest as part of the “Erasmus+” student exchange in 2023.

His research interests are mainly focused on the history of Hungary of the Arpadian era. In his research work, he is primarily interested in source narratives and plot patterns used in medieval chronicles.
