Ph.D. Orestis Karatzoglou

I got my undergraduate degree in Greek philology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a specialization on classical languages. I pursued further my studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I acquired my MA in Classics (2013) and my PhD in Classical Philology (2019). In 2020, I was awarded a scholarship from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) to undertake research at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on my project “Metaphors on Mental Representation of Knowledge in Homer and the Presocratics.” In 2021, my monograph The Embodied Self in Plato: Phaedo, Republic, Timaeus was published in the Trends in  Classics  series of De Gruyter publishing. I am currently a collaborator in the project  “Thinking of Thinking. Conceptual Metaphors of Cognition in the Plutarchan Corpus”.
