Professor Roman Michałowski

Biography

B. in 1949, graduated from the University of Warsaw, Ph.D. and habilitated there in 1979 and 1990, professor title in 2006.
Employed at the IH UW from 1972 as a trainee assistant, assistant, senior assistant, assistant professor, associate professor from 1994, full professor from 2008.
Director of Centre de Civilisation Polonaise at Paris IV University and Professor at Sorbonne 1998-2001.
Chairman of the Scientific Council of the IHUW 2002-2008, Head of the Department of Medieval History 2005-2019. Deputy Editor of the “Historical Quarterly”.
Research interests:
Polish and universal medieval history with particular emphasis on the history of religion and culture.
Employed at the Department of History of the University of Warsaw in the research team implementing the ELITES project.
