Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for prof. Zofia Zielińska

We are pleased to announce that prof. emerita Zofia Zielińska was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for outstanding contributions to the development of Polish science, for achievements in scientific and research work and for popularizing historical knowledge.

Prof. Zofia Zielińska is a specialist in modern history and the 18th century. Since her studies, she has been associated with our Faculty (formerly the Institute). Here she obtained her doctoral and post-doctoral degrees. She served as deputy director of the Historical Institute. She also headed the Department of Modern History. In 2002, she received the title of professor of humanities. She was the rector of the former Higher School of the Family Alliance in Warsaw.

Prof. Zielińska is the author of many scientific publications on the history of Poland in the 18th century. Her achievements include, among others: Walka „Familii” o reformę Rzeczypospolitej 1743–1752, Ostatnie lata Pierwszej Rzeczypospolitej, Republikanizm spod władzy buławy. Publicystyka Seweryna Rzewuskiego z lat 1788–1790, Polska w okowach systemu północnego 1763–1766, Studia z dziejów stosunków polsko-rosyjskich w XVIII wieku, czy Korespondencja Stanisława Augusta z Katarzyną II i jej najbliższymi współpracownikami (1764–1796) (t. 2).

The Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta is a decoration awarded in Poland for outstanding services to the state. It is awarded to people who make a significant contribution to the development of society, culture, science or public service. It is also received by many people involved in charity and humanitarian activities.

The Officer’s Cross is one of the three degrees of this order, alongside the Commander’s Cross and the Knight’s Cross. This prestigious distinction highlights the significant contribution of the recipients to the development of Poland.
