Dr Mariana Bodnaruk jest adiunktem w Zakładzie Historii Starożytnej na Wydziale Historii Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego, realizując projekt badawczy w ramach Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action. Uzyskał*a tytuł doktora nauk średniowiecznych na Uniwersytecie Środkowoeuropejskim w Budapeszcie (2019).

Wykładał*a w Al-Quds Bard College, Uniwersytecie Środkowoeuropejskim, Bard College, Uniwersytecie Masaryka i Uniwersytecie w Ołomuńcu.

Wyniki swoich badań opublikował*a w „Journal of Epigraphic Studies”, „Journal of Late Antiquity”, „Antichthon” i „Phoenix”. Jest autorem*ką książki An Empire of Elites: The Self-Representation of the Senatorial Aristocracy in the Later Roman State in the Fourth Century AD oraz redaktorem*ką Artistic Practice, Materiality and Ideology in the Medieval East Roman Empire and Neighboring Eastern Polities.

Jego/jej zainteresowania badawcze obejmują epigrafikę, historię sztuki i hagiografię średniowiecznego Cesarstwa Wschodniorzymskiego, studia queer i trans oraz materializm historyczny.
